That Cali Light

It hasn't been that long since I was in Cali, but it's been awhile since I've noticed the particular quality of light that is unmistakably from Los Angeles.

Liked how she was highlighted and dressed in white.

This didn't turn out the way I wanted it to in my head, but here it is anyways.

Purp

Liked the long shadows on this one

Something about the light post, the power line pole and the liquor store seemed at such odds with each other.

Special delivery

Took a mini trip to Portland to shoot and pick up some things. Slowly starting to understand how my camera works and the Fujifilm color profiles.

They don't make them like they used to

Interesting light/reflections. Sad this was a little soft though. Needs to practice standing still

This guy is a visual representation of Portland

NYC...again

Is it possible to visit too often? Didn't get my usual morning walk around shoot but managed to catch some pretty things.

View of NYC from Newark

Art Gallery hopping in Chelsea

Saw a lady selling this walking over. Hard to say no

Loved the colors with the light

I liked how everything is sloping from left to right

Coffee time

Reminded me of a renaissance painting

Had to fit in a water tower pic

NYC before the heat comes

NYC for a weekend after a grueling work crunch. Got in at 5:30am and dropped off my bags at the The James hotel. Even though I was deliriously tired, I decided to walk around and shoot in the morning light. All shot on a Fujifilm X-T30 35mm F/2.0

I'm sure I've photographed this water tower before. Still obsessed with them.

Another one

Last one I swear

It had rained earlier, and it was set to rain later that day. The tricky part about this photo was that it was windy on this street so I had to wait for awhile to get a still image

Trying to practice getting people in shafts of light. I should have been on the other side of him for this shot

I liked the color of his shirt

He looked like he had just been through a tough work week too

Not a great photo, but I liked how this shot looked like it was taken 30 years ago

LA in FujiChrome

Decided to give photography another go, but needed an easier way to carry my gear. Decided to pick up a Fujifilm X-T30 and a 35mm F2. Also trying to shoot jpg to see what all the fuss is about. So far I'm liking how the Fujichrome setting is working out, and the camera is way more convenient to carry around than the D750 + prime.

Loved the colors on this one despite being horribly out of focus

New York 2018

Short trip to NYC with the intention to do a lot of walking and shooting. Rain said "are you sure about that?", and humidity said, "No" so I never got in my groove. Was super rusty finding my shots and even rustier finding my focus with the manual 50mm.

Most days started with a layer of fog in the sky. Most of the time it stayed that way

Had to hit up a rooftop anyways

When it rains, hit up the galleries.

Didn't have time to hit up the Whitney so I settled for the high line walk

Barcelona 2017

Decided to take a break this year before the real crunch happened. Barcelona had the cheapest flights.

Wasn't in the right mindset to get back into the zone for taking pictures, but I did bring my camera to wine country in Priorat. The area reminded me of Tuscany quite a bit and made me excited about my promise to visit Italy again someday.

Fatehpur Sikri

Now we get to the part where my free spirited eating catches up to me and as a result, my photography falls off rather sharply. Here's what I managed.
