A single file line on the left while you ascend on the escalator. Vending machines that light up the streets at night. Uncompromisingly good food. This is how I know I have arrived at long last in Japan.

What is the first thing one should do when in Japan? Walk into a random ramen shop and realize how truly inadequate all the ramen you've had in North America has been.
