Not much to see here. Sadly Osaka was the photo-death of me.

Day 7: Osaka pt. 3
There's only one good reason to walk around all day, and that is to work up an appetite to eat. Osaka is also known for it's kushiage, which is basically things they deep fry in batter and serve. This is pretty far away from how they do it in America though (think state fairs). At it's best, there is a lightness and subtlety to each dish that makes each bite a memorable experience. Tomo did some research and chose the restaurant, so it was great. I present to you Cuisine d'Osaka Ryo
On the way there
Appetizers. I forgot what everything was, but it was delicious.
Some notable mentions was the rice puffs, the soup, the eggs on eggs, and I think there was foie somewhere in the mix too

Day 7: Osaka pt. 1
Today it is all about eating what Osaka is famous for.
The train to get there
Almost there
Takoyaki
Forgot what this was called, but it was egg based rather than batter based
Place was packed outside
And inside
Because of this: okonomiyaki

Day 5: Nikko -> Tokyo pt 2
After a relaxing 2 days in Nikko, it was time to return to the city of perfected delights, yes means it is feeding time.
I meet up with Tomo at Tokyo station and we begin to pace the back alleys searching for our next meal. Is this the evolution of hunting? What have we come to? I'm not sure, but it's tasty.
You will live another day friend, no mackerel for us tonight
Bright lights, big city
First we stop by an izakaya place while we wait for a reservation at our restaurant. I believe what we had was grilled skate fin? It was of course delicious. I liked how they used the old school way of displaying the menu via wooden panels, when an item is done, they turn it over. Will I copy this for a future restaurant? Absolutely.
We arrive at our restaurant specializing in Okinawan cuisine. As always, I learn a lot about the food I'd otherwise never get to try from my dining partner Tomo.
A variety of seaweed only native to Okinawa. The pearls burst in your mouth like caviar.
Pig ears with a killer peanut sauce
Braised (you had me at) pork
Deep fried seaweed. Very similar to a Korean dish that I adore
A traditional stir fry with seaweed instead of noodles
Mission accomplished. Now I can sleep smiling

Day 18?: Fooood
Like I said before, not sure if this is in order anymore but here are some of the tasty things I ate in Tokyo.
I don't know what he was yelling...
But OMG he was right. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had.
Unpasteurized caramels. Tastes like a triple cream french cheese and a caramel mixed together.
Only a serious soba place would make their own beer.
Hand made each day for centuries and very very good
Pork cutlet, beaten until thin and then folded back over. The most delicate texture and still full of flavor.

Shanghai Day one
I'm rusty. And it shows. Looking through my last pics I see better technique and ideas, oddly enough though I see more patience in these photos, like I waited for them to happen instead of rushing.
Waiting to fly on my adventure.
My transfer to Inchon Airport. My favourite thing was the escalators that turned on only if you stepped on them to save power.
I got some cautious eyes from the security guards for taking this one at the maglev train into Shanghai, it's the fastest in the world.
For me Shanghai was all about the food on the street.
Flavour was just good, but the chewy noodles were fantastic. Great first meal.
Other people have the same idea.
It doesn't get better than this.
One dude went crazy on the corn. He kept coming back and ordering more. He even put it on the grill himself. That's a hungry man.
Rooftop drink on the balcony of a club. We got locked out but managed to get back inside :)
