Thinking back, it was a surreal experience doing the Ha long + Cat ba island combo. I think its remote location coupled with the strangeness of being on a boat for that long made it seem like I dreamed the whole thing up.
Took this waiting for our van. The kid was diggin her panda ballon.
Wished I had a longer lens to capture her face better.
Back on the mainland. Love the miniature trucks

New Year
...Same story. Still on the Vietnam pics.
Took a lot of this "island". You'll probably recognize some of the features of the rightmost peak.
I'm continually amazed at how well this lens handles shooting into light.
There were cool rays of light hitting the water. Someday a camera will be able to capture that. Not mine.

more caves
You'll probably need a properly calibrated monitor to see these next ones. They were taken in a larger cave that a lot of the group didn't bother climbing up to see. I wanted to preserve the way the light fell off into black.
The entrance.
The exit.
Leaving the caves.

In the water
Made it to the first set of caves. Ha Long has definitely turned into a tourist attraction, with souvenirs being sold and trash floating everywhere in the water, but it still manages to impress me with it's beauty.
The trip out on our boat.
View from the outside.
View from the inside.
